Artist's Statement

I used to draw when I was in high school and was good at it. I wanted to become an artist when I grew up. But my parents wanted me to become an engineer. They said that I can do art on the side anytime but I won't be able to make a living at it. I didn't see it that way then, but they were right. After finishing my master's degree in computer science I came to United States and pursued a career in computers. Now I am turning back to my childhood passion: Art. I am most interested in male figurative art.

In this series of paintings I set out to articulate some aspects of masculinity through posture and color. Each painting shows the male body in a different color. Every viewer may have some emotional response these images, though I didn’t intend to evoke any particular moods or feelings.
